2 Safety

2.1 General power tool safety warnings

WARNING Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this

power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated

(cordless) power tool.

Work area safety

▶ Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.

▶ Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable

liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

▶ Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose

control.

Electrical safety

▶ Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter

plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of

electric shock.

▶ Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and

refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.

▶ Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the

risk of electric shock.

▶ Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep

cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the

risk of electric shock.

▶ When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a

cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

▶ If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD)

protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

▶ Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do

not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A

moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

▶ Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a

dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will

reduce personal injuries.

▶ Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power

source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on

the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

▶ Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left

attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

▶ Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the

power tool in unexpected situations.

▶ Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from

moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

▶ If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these

are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

▶ Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore

tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

Power tool use and care

▶ Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool

will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

▶ Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be

controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

▶ Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from

the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.

Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

▶ Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the

power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands

of untrained users.

▶ Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,

breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged,

have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power

tools.

▶ Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are

less likely to bind and are easier to control.

▶ Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking

into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for

operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

▶ Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and

grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

Service

▶ Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts.

This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

2.2 Hammer safety warnings

Safety instructions for all operations

▶

Wear ear protectors. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.

▶ Use auxiliary handle(s), if supplied with the tool. Loss of control can cause personal injury.

▶ Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the

cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory contacting a "live"

wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric

shock.

2.3 Additional safety instructions

Personal safety

▶ Modification of the power tool is not permitted.

▶ Keep the grips dry, clean and free from oil and grease.

▶ Check that the side handle is fitted correctly and tightened securely. Always hold the tool securely

with both hands on the grips provided.

▶ Improve the blood circulation in your fingers by relaxing your hands and exercising your fingers

during breaks between working.

▶ The power tool is not intended for use by debilitated persons who have received no special training.

▶ Keep the power tool out of reach of children.

▶ Avoid touching rotating parts. Switch the power tool on only after bringing it into position at the

workpiece. Touching rotating parts, especially rotating drill bits or other accessories, may lead to injury.

▶ Dust from materials, such as paint containing lead, some wood species, concrete / masonry / stone

containing silica, and minerals as well as metal, may be harmful. Contact with or inhalation of the dust

may cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory or other diseases to the operator or bystanders. Certain

kinds of dust are classified as carcinogenic such as oak and beech dust, especially in conjunction with

additives for wood conditioning (chromate, wood preservative). Material containing asbestos may be

handled only by specialists. Use a dust removal system whenever possible. To achieve a high level

of dust collection, use a suitable vacuum cleaner. When indicated, wear a respirator appropriate

for the type of dust generated. Ensure that the workplace is well ventilated. Follow national

requirements for the materials you want to work with.

▶ Before beginning the work, check the hazard classification of the dust that will be produced. Use

an industrial vacuum cleaner with an officially approved protection classification in compliance

with locally applicable dust protection regulations.

▶ Observe the national health and safety requirements.

Careful handling and use of power tools

▶ Secure the workpiece. Use clamps or a vice to secure the workpiece. The workpiece is thus held

more securely than by hand and both hands remain free to operate the power tool.

▶ Ensure that the accessory tools used have a mounting system that is compatible with the electric

tool and that they are secured in the chuck correctly.

▶ In the event of a power failure or interruption in the electric supply, switch the power tool off,

unplug the supply cord and release the switch lockbutton (if applicable). This will prevent accidental

restarting when the electric power returns.

Electrical safety

▶ Before beginning work, check the working area (e.g. using a metal detector) to ensure that no

concealed electric cables or gas and water pipes are present. External metal parts of the tool may

become live, for example, when an electric power line is damaged accidentally. This presents a serious

risk of electric shock.

▶ Check the tool’s supply cord at regular intervals and have it replaced by a qualified specialist if

found to be damaged. If the tool’s supply cord is damaged it must be replaced with a specially-

prepared and approved supply cord available from Hilti Customer Service. Check extension cords

at regular intervals and replace them if found to be damaged. Do not touch the supply cord or

extension cord if it is damaged while working. Disconnect the supply cord plug from the power

outlet. Damaged supply cords or extension cords present a risk of electric shock.

▶ Dirty or dusty power tools that have been used frequently for work on conductive materials should

be checked at regular intervals at a Hilti Service Center. Dust (especially dust from conductive

materials) or dampness adhering to the surface of the power tool may, under unfavorable conditions,

lead to electric shock.

Work area

▶ If the work involves breaking right through, take the appropriate safety measures at the opposite

side. Parts breaking away could fall out and / or fall down and injure other persons.

Personal safety

▶ Wear protective gloves. The rotary hammer may get hot during use. There is a risk of injury (cutting or

burning) if the accessory tool is touched while changing it.

3 Description

3.2 Intended use

The product described is an electrically powered rotary hammer. It is designed for drilling in concrete,

masonry, drywall panel, wood, plastic and metal. The rotary hammer can also be used for light chiseling

work on masonry and surface finishing on concrete.

▶ The power tool may be operated only when connected to a power supply providing a voltage and

frequency in compliance with the information given on its type plate.

4 Technical data

4.1 Rotary hammer

For details of the rated voltage, frequency, current and/or input power, refer to the country-specific

type identification plate.

When powered by a generator or transformer, the generator or transformer’s power output must be at least

twice the rated input power shown on the rating plate of the power tool. The operating voltage of the

transformer or generator must always be within +5% and -15% of the rated voltage of the power tool.

4.2 Noise information and vibration values in accordance with EN 62841

The sound pressure and vibration values given in these instructions were measured in accordance with a

standardized test and can be used to compare one power tool with another. They can also be used for a

preliminary assessment of exposure.

The data given represent the main applications of the power tool. However, if the power tool is used for

different applications, with different accessory tools, or is poorly maintained, the data can vary. This can

significantly increase exposure over the total working period.

An accurate estimation of exposure should also take into account the times when the tool is switched off, or

when it is running but not actually being used for a job. This can significantly reduce exposure over the total

working period.

Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects of noise and/or vibration, for

5 Using extension cords

WARNING

A damaged supply cord presents a hazard! Do not touch the supply cord or extension cord if damaged

while working. Disconnect the supply cord plug from the power outlet.

▶ Check the appliance’s supply cord at regular intervals and have it replaced by a qualified specialist if

found to be damaged.

• Use only extension cords of a type approved for the application and with conductors of adequate gauge

(cross section). The power tool may otherwise suffer a drop in performance and the extension cord may

overheat.

• Check the extension cord for damage at regular intervals.

• Replace damaged extension cords.

• When working outdoors, use only extension cords that are approved and correspondingly marked for

this application.

6 Preparations at the workplace

▶ Unplug the supply cord before making adjustments to the power tool or before changing accessories.

6.1 Fitting the side handle 2

CAUTION

Risk of injury! Loss of control over the rotary hammer drill.

▶ Check that the side handle is fitted correctly and tightened securely. Check that the clamping band is

engaged in the groove in the tool.

1. Release the side handle clamping band by turning the handle grip.

2. Slide the side handle clamping band over the chuck from the front and into the recess provided.

3. Bring the side handle into the desired position.

4. Tighten the side handle clamping band by turning the handle grip.

6.2 Fitting the depth gauge 3

1. Press and hold down the release button on the side handle.

2. Slide the depth gauge from the front into the opening provided in the side handle. Adjust the depth gauge

to the desired drilling depth.

3. Release the release button.

▶ The depth gauge is locked.

6.3 Fitting the accessory tool 4

Lightly grease the connection end of the accessory tool.

Use only genuine Hilti grease. Using the wrong grease can result in damage to the tool.

1. Push the accessory tool into the chuck as far as it will go, turning it and applying light pressure until it

engages with an audible click.

2. After fitting the accessory tool, grip it and pull it in order to check that it is securely engaged.

▶ The product is ready for use.

7 Types of work

WARNING

Damaged power cords are a safety hazard! If the supply cord or extension cord is damaged while work

is in progress, immediately disconnect the device and the cord from the electricity supply. Do not touch the

damaged part of the cord.

▶ Regularly check all supply cords. Replace defective extension cords. Have damaged power cords

replaced by a qualified specialist.

Use of a ground fault circuit interrupter (residual current device, RCD) with a maximum tripping current of

30 mA is recommended.

7.1 Forward / reverse 5

▶ Set the forward / reverse selector switch to forward or reverse rotation.

▶ The chisel can be adjusted to 18 different positions (in 20° increments). This ensures that flat chisels

and shaped chisels can always be set to the optimum working position.

▶ Do not operate the tool when the selector switch is set to “Chisel positioning”. Turn the function selector

switch until it engages in the “Chiseling” position.

▶ Wear protective gloves when changing the tool.

1. Pull the accessory tool retaining bar back as far as it will go.

2. Remove the accessory tool.

8 Care and maintenance

WARNING

Electric shock hazard! Attempting care and maintenance with the supply cord connected to a power outlet

can lead to severe injury and burns.

▶ Always unplug the supply cord before carrying out care and maintenance tasks.

Care

• Carefully remove any dirt that may be adhering to parts.

• Clean the air vents carefully with a dry brush.

• Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the casing. Do not use cleaning agents containing silicone as

these may attack the plastic parts.

Maintenance

WARNING

Danger of electric shock! Improper repairs to electrical components may lead to serious injuries including

burns.

▶ Repairs to the electrical section of the tool or appliance may be carried out only by trained electrical

specialists.

• Check all visible parts and controls for signs of damage at regular intervals and make sure that they all

function correctly.

• Do not operate the product if signs of damage are found or if parts malfunction. Have it repaired

immediately by Hilti Service.

• After cleaning and maintenance, fit all guards or protective devices and check that they function correctly.

To help ensure safe and reliable operation, use only genuine Hilti spare parts and consumables. Spare

parts, consumables and accessories approved by Hilti for use with the product can be found at your

local Hilti Store or online at: www.hilti.group.

8.1 Replacing the dust shield 7

1. Pull the chuck back and remove the dust cap.

2. Clean the chuck.

3. Slip the new dust cap on to the chuck.

Risk of injury! The depth gauge, if fitted but not used, might hinder the operator.

The function selector switch should be set to the “Chiseling” position when changing the chuck.

1. Pull the sleeve of the chuck up.

2. Pull the chuck off the holder.

3. Pull the sleeve of the cleaned / new chuck up.

4. Fit the chuck onto the chuck mount.

5. Rotate the chuck slightly until it engages in position.

9 Transport and storage

Transport

▶ Do not transport this product with an accessory tool installed.

▶ Make sure that the equipment is held securely throughout all transport operations.

▶ After transporting, always check all visible parts and controls for signs of damage and make sure that

they all function correctly.

Storage

▶ Always store this product with the electric supply cable unplugged from the electricity supply.

▶ Store this product in a dry place, where it cannot be accessed by children or unauthorized persons.

▶ After a long period of storage, always check all visible parts and controls for signs of damage and make

sure that they all function correctly.

11 Disposal

2.1 Vispārīgi drošības norādījumi par darbu ar elektroiekārtām

BRĪDINĀJUMS! Iepazīstieties ar visiem drošības norādījumiem, instrukcijām, attēliem un tehnis-

kajiem parametriem, kas attiecas uz šo elektroiekārtu. Turpmāk izklāstīto instrukciju neievērošana var

izraisīt elektrošoku, ugunsgrēku un/vai nopietnas traumas.

Saglabājiet visus drošības norādījumus un instrukcijas turpmākai lietošanai.

Drošības norādījumos lietotais apzīmējums "elektroiekārta" attiecas uz iekārtām ar tīkla barošanu (ar

barošanas kabeli) vai iekārtām ar barošanu no akumulatora (bez kabeļa).

Drošība darba vietā

▶ Uzturiet darba vietā tīrību un kārtību un nodrošiniet labu apgaismojumu. Nekārtīgā darba vietā vai

sliktā apgaismojumā var viegli notikt nelaimes gadījums.

▶ Nestrādājiet ar elektroiekārtu sprādzienbīstamā vidē, kur atrodas uzliesmojoši šķidrumi, gāzes vai

putekļi. Darbības laikā elektroiekārtas mēdz dzirksteļot, un tas var izraisīt viegli uzliesmojošu putekļu vai

tvaiku aizdegšanos.

▶ Lietojot elektroiekārtu, neļaujiet nepiederošām personām un jo īpaši bērniem tuvoties darba vietai.

Citu personu klātbūtne var novērst uzmanību, un tā rezultātā jūs varat zaudēt kontroli pār iekārtu.

Elektrodrošība

▶ Elektroiekārtas kontaktdakšai jāatbilst elektrotīkla kontaktligzdai. Kontaktdakšas konstrukciju

nedrīkst nekādā veidā mainīt. Kopā ar elektroiekārtām, kurām ir aizsargzemējums, nedrīkst lietot

adapteru spraudņus. Neizmainītas konstrukcijas kontaktdakša, kas atbilst kontaktligzdai, ļauj samazināt

elektrošoka risku.

▶ Darba laikā nepieskarieties sazemētiem priekšmetiem, piemēram, caurulēm, radiatoriem, plītīm

vai ledusskapjiem. Pieskaroties sazemētām virsmām, pieaug risks saņemt elektrisko triecienu.

▶ Nelietojiet elektroiekārtu lietus laikā, neturiet to mitrumā. Mitrumam iekļūstot elektroiekārtā, pieaug

risks saņemt elektrisko triecienu.

▶ Nenesiet un nepakariniet elektroiekārtu aiz barošanas kabeļa un neraujiet aiz kabeļa, ja vēlaties

atvienot iekārtu no elektrotīkla kontaktligzdas. Sargājiet barošanas kabeli no karstuma, eļļas,

asām šķautnēm vai kustīgām detaļām. Bojāts vai sapiņķerējies barošanas kabelis var kļūt par cēloni

elektrošokam.

▶ Darbinot elektroiekārtu ārpus telpām, izmantojiet tās pievienošanai vienīgi tādus pagarinātājka-

beļus, kas ir paredzēti lietošanai brīvā dabā. Lietojot elektrokabeli, kas ir piemērots darbam ārpus

telpām, samazinās elektrošoka risks.

▶ Ja elektroiekārtas izmantošana slapjā vidē ir obligāti nepieciešama, lietojiet bojājumstrāvas

aizsargslēdzi. Bojājumstrāvas aizsargslēdža lietošana samazina elektrošoka risku.

Personiskā drošība

▶ Strādājiet ar elektroiekārtu uzmanīgi, darba laikā saglabājiet paškontroli un rīkojieties saskaņā ar

veselo saprātu. Ar elektroiekārtu nedrīkst strādāt personas, kas ir nogurušas vai atrodas narkotiku,

alkohola vai medikamentu ietekmē. Mirklis neuzmanības, strādājot ar elektroiekārtu, var novest pie

nopietnām traumām.

▶ Izmantojiet individuālos aizsardzības līdzekļus un darba laikā vienmēr valkājiet aizsargbrilles.

Individuālo aizsardzības līdzekļu (putekļu aizsargmaskas, neslīdošu apavu un aizsargķiveres vai ausu

aizsargu) lietošana atbilstoši elektroiekārtas tipam un veicamā darba raksturam ļauj izvairīties no

savainojumiem.

▶ Nepieļaujiet iekārtas nekontrolētas ieslēgšanās iespēju. Pirms pievienošanas elektrotīklam,

akumulatora ievietošanas, elektroiekārtas satveršanas vai pārvietošanas pārliecinieties, ka tā

ir izslēgta. Ja iekārtas pārvietošanas laikā pirksts atrodas uz slēdža vai ja ieslēgta iekārta tiek pievienota

elektrotīklam, var notikt nelaimes gadījums.

▶ Pirms elektroiekārtas ieslēgšanas jānoņem visi regulēšanas piederumi un uzgriežņu atslēgas.

Regulēšanas piederumi vai uzgriežņu atslēga, kas iekārtas ieslēgšanas brīdī atrodas iekārtā, var radīt

traumas.

▶ Izvairieties no nedabiskām pozām. Darba laikā vienmēr saglabājiet līdzsvaru un nodrošinieties

pret paslīdēšanu. Tas atvieglos elektroiekārtas vadību neparedzētās situācijās.

▶ Izvēlieties darbam piemērotu apģērbu. Darba laikā nenēsājiet brīvi plandošasdrēbesun rotaslietas.

Netuviniet matus, apģērbu un aizsargcimdus iekārtas kustīgajām daļām. Vaļīgas drēbes, rotaslietas

un gari mati var ieķerties iekārtas kustīgajās daļās.

▶ Ja elektroiekārtas konstrukcija ļauj pievienot putekļu nosūkšanas vai savākšanas ierīci, sekojiet,

lai tā būtu pievienota un tiktu darbināta pareizi. Putekļu nosūcēja lietošana samazina putekļu kaitīgo

ietekmi.

▶ Nezaudējiet modrību un neatkāpieties no elektroiekārtu lietošanas drošības noteikumu ievēro-

šanas arī tad, ja lietojat attiecīgo elektroiekārtu bieži un kārtīgi to pārzināt. Neuzmanība vienā

sekundes daļā var novest pie smagām traumām.

Elektroiekārtas lietošana un apkope

▶ Nepārslogojiet elektroiekārtu. Katram darbam izvēlietiespiemērotuiekārtu. Elektroiekārtadarbosies

labāk un drošāk pie nominālās slodzes.

▶ Nelietojiet elektroiekārtu, ja ir bojāts tās slēdzis. Elektroiekārta, ko nevar ieslēgt un izslēgt, ir bīstama

un nekavējoties jānodod remontā.

▶ Pirms iestatījumu veikšanas, aprīkojuma daļu nomaiņas vai iekārtas novietošanas uzglabāšanā

atvienojiet kontaktdakšu no elektrotīkla un/vai noņemiet noņemamo akumulatoru. Šādi jūs

novērsīsiet elektroiekārtas nejaušas ieslēgšanās risku.

▶ Elektroiekārtu, kas netiek darbināta, uzglabājiet piemērotā vietā. Neļaujiet lietot iekārtu personām,

kas nav iepazinušās ar tās funkcijām un izlasījušas šo lietošanas instrukciju. Ja elektroiekārtu lieto

citiem mērķiem, nekā to ir paredzējusi ražotājfirma, ir bīstama un var izraisīt neparedzamas sekas.

▶ Raugieties, lai rokturu un satveršanas virsmas būtu sausas, tīras, nenotraipītas ar eļļu un

smērvielām. Ja rokturu vai satveršanas virsmas ir slidenas, nav iespējama droša elektroiekārtas

barošanas kabeli, iekārta vienmēr jātur aiz izolētajām rokturu virsmām. Saskaroties ar spriegumam

pieslēgtiem vadiem, spriegums tiek novadīts uz iekārtas metāla daļām, radot elektrošoka risku.

2.3 Papildnorādījumi par drošību

Personīgā drošība

▶ Aizliegts veikt nesankcionētas manipulācijas vai pārveidot iekārtu.

▶ Gādājiet, lai rokturi būtu sausi, tīri, nenotraipīti ar eļļu un smērvielām.

Saskare ar rotējošām iekārtas daļām, sevišķi ar rotējošiem instrumentiem, var izraisīt traumas.

▶ Putekļi, ko rada tādi materiāli kā, piemēram, svinu saturoša krāsa, daži koksnes veidi, betons /

mūris / kvarcu saturoši akmeņi, minerāli un metāls, var būt kaitīgi veselībai. Saskare ar šiem

putekļiem vai to ieelpošana var izraisīt lietotāja vai citu tuvumā esošo personu alerģiskas reakcijas

un/vai elpceļu saslimšanas. Noteikti putekļu veidi, piemēram, ozola un skābarža koksnes putekļi, tiek

▶ Pirms darba sākšanas noskaidrojiet darba laikā radušos putekļu bīstamības kategoriju. Lietojiet

celtniecības putekļsūcēju ar oficiālas sertifikācijas ietvaros piešķirtu drošības klasifikāciju, kas

atbilst vietējiem putekļu ietekmes ierobežošanas normatīviem.

▶ Nostipriniet apstrādājamo priekšmetu. Apstrādājamā materiāla nostiprināšanai izmantojiet

skrūvspīles vai citas fiksācijas ierīces. Šādi tas būs drošāk un stabilāk novietots nekā tad, ja to

turēsiet ar roku, turklāt abas rokas būs brīvas iekārtas vadīšanai.

▶ Pārliecinieties, vai maināmo instrumentu savienojumu sistēmas atbilst iekārtas fiksācijas sistēmai

un tie tajā kārtīgi nofiksējas.
