When using a microphone which operates on external power sources
Install the supplied four LR6 (size AA) alkaline batteries, and set the MIC POWER switch to ON.
Remove the battery case from the unit.
Insert the batteries with the correct polarity, and replace the battery case.
Set the MIC POWER switch to ON.

Notes
Do not use manganese batteries with this unit.
Turn down the volume of the Linear PCM Recorder when you set the MIC POWER switch to ON, because
a loud sound may be emitted.
When using a microphone which does not need external power, set the MIC POWER switch to OFF before
connecting the microphone.
When the MIC POWER lamp  ashes or goes out, replace the batteries with new ones.

Attaching a Linear PCM Recorder

Notes
Fasten the screws securely using a coin or the like.
Attach the Linear PCM Recorder to the spacer plate by aligning projecting parts at the corners on the
bottom of the Linear PCM Recorder with the hollows at the corners on the spacer plate, so that there is no
gap between the Linear PCM Recorder and the spacer plate.
A er attaching the Linear PCM Recorder securely, connect the microphone cable to the MIC jack of the
Linear PCM Recorder.
Using the microphone adaptor attached side-by-side with
the Linear PCM Recorder
Using the screw hole marked BASE PLATE, attach the spacer plate to the base plate with
the screw provided.
Slide the microphone adaptor to the spacer plate.
Attach the Linear PCM Recorder to the base plate with the screw.
Connect the microphone cable to the MIC jack.

Pass the microphone cable through the
hole, and then guide it through the cable
catches on the back of the base plate.

Using the microphone adaptor placed under the Linear PCM
Recorder
You can attach the microphone adaptor to the Linear PCM Recorder in two ways; either to the top or the
bottom of the Linear PCM Recorder, as shown in the illustrations below.
Using the screw hole marked RECORDER, attach the spacer plate to the Linear PCM
Recorder with the screw.
Slide the microphone adaptor to the spacer plate.
Connect the microphone cord to the MIC jack.
Removing the unit from the spacer
Note on the monaural recording
When you connect a microphone to only one of the MIC input connectors, set REC LEVEL of the channel
you do not use to 0 on the Linear PCM Recorder.
Precautions
On power
Operate the unit only on 1.5 V DC. Use four LR6 (size
AA) alkaline batteries.
On safety
Do not operate the unit while driving, cycling or
operating any motorized vehicle.
On handling
Do not leave the unit in a location near heat sources, or
in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust or
mechanical shock.
Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit,
remove the battery and have the unit checked by
quali ed personnel before operating it any further.
On noise
Noise may be heard when the unit is placed near an AC
power source, a  uorescent lamp or a mobile phone
during recording.
Noise may be recorded when an object, such as your
nger, etc., rubs or scratches the unit during recording.
On maintenance
To clean the exterior, use a so cloth slightly moistened
in water. Do not use alcohol, benzine or thinner.
