Notification—Added Functions for the R-09
(Ver. 1.30)
This product has been upgraded to version 1.30.
[Support for 8GB SDHC (High Capacity) memory cards]
• You can now record and play back using SDHC (High Capacity) memory cards (up to 8 GB in capacity).
• Once the size of a file being recorded reaches 2GB, it will be divided into two or more files for saving.
The following functions have been added with this upgrade.
Pressing the [A-B REPEAT button] during recording splits the file at the location at which the button was pressed.
When you’re recording for an extended duration, and are approaching an important portion of the recording, you may find it convenient to
divide the file so that you’ll be able to play back from that location later without having to spend time searching.
1. Select “Recorder Setup” from the <Menu
Screen>.
Use the [PLAY Button ] and [STOP Button ] to select
“Recorder Setup,” then press the [REC Button].
2. Select “File Split.”
Use the [PLAY Button ] and [STOP Button ] to move the
cursor to the File Split line.
3. Make settings for file splitting.
Use the [RWD Button ] and [FWD Button ] to change the
File Split value.
When finished with the settings, press the [FINDER/MENU Button]
to return to previous screens.

The following parameters have been newly added to the [Menu Screen].
• Depending on the specifications of the card, there may be rare cases in which the recording is interrupted.
• The recording will not be interrupted, but it will not be possible to play back the preceding and following files without interruption (i.e., gapless
playback is not possible).
• It is not possible to split a file in a way that would cause any portion to contain less than two seconds of material. File splitting is possible only when
each resulting file will contain at least two seconds worth of recording.
• If you split a file manually while recording via the internal mics, the sound of the operation (the click of the button) may be recorded. If you want to
avoid this, please use an external mic.
[Macintosh users]
• SDHC memory cards cannot be used in a Mac OS 9 environment. Do not connect the R-09 (with an SDHC card inserted) to a Macintosh that is
running Mac OS 9, since this can cause unexpected problems, including damaged files.
