1. Power On / Off, Play /

Enables various functions,

Using the Scroller __________________
We use the term “Scroll-select” to mean the following actions:
Getting Started ____________________
Step 1: Set up software
1. Turn on your computer.
If you have Windows XP or Windows 2000, you must log in as an administrator in
Windows before you can set up the software. For more information, refer to your
operating system’s online Help.
2. Insert the Installation and Applications CD into your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive. Your CD
should start automatically. If it does not, follow the steps below:
i. Double-click the My Computer icon.
ii. Right-click the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive icon, and then click AutoPlay.
You can use the Scroller to move between tracks, or turn and hold the Scroller to move
within a track.
DO NOT connect your player to your computer before setting up the software.

3. Follow the instructions on the screen and when prompted, restart your computer.
4. When your computer restarts, follow the product registration instructions on the screen.
5. When prompted, connect your player to your computer’s USB port using the supplied USB
cable. Do not press the buttons on your player while connecting it to your computer.
You will require an Internet connection to register your product.

Step 2: Turn on player
Your player comes preloaded with some music to get you started immediately.
1. Press and hold the Play/Pause button until your player turns on.
2. Connect your earphones and press the Volume
buttons to adjust the volume.
3. Press the Play/Pause button to play the
preloaded content.
4. When you turn on your player for the first time, the menu
will be in English. To change the language:
i. Press the Scroller.
ii. Scroll-select the Settings option.
iii. Scroll-select the Language option.
iv. Scroll-select a language.
5. After you have finished using your player, press and hold the Play/Pause button
until the OLED display turns off.
For more information on using the Scroller, see “Using the Scroller” on page 5.

Step 3: Charge the battery
1. Make sure your player is connected to your computer’s USB port with the supplied USB
cable. Connect to a computer USB port only; avoid connecting to a USB hub.
When the battery is charging, the battery charging icon flashes on the OLED display.
2. Disconnect your player from your computer when the battery is fully charged and you see
on your OLED display. It takes approximately six hours to charge your player fully.
For Windows 98 SE only: DO NOT charge your player's battery via the USB cable until
after you have installed the software.
When charging the battery, avoid transferring files between your player and computer as this
may lengthen the charging time.
For continuous charging, make sure your computer does not enter power conservation mode,
for example, Standby or Hibernation. For more information, refer to your operating system's
Help.
To charge your player without using the computer, use the Zen Neeon power adapter (available
separately).

Step 4: Rip and copy music
Rip music from your CD collection to your player, or copy audio files (such as music you have
purchased online) from your computer.
To rip music from your CD collection
1. Make sure your player is connected to your computer as shown on page 6.
2. Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
Alternatively, click Start My Computer.
3. Double-click the Zen Neeon Media Explorer icon.
4. Click the Rip Audio CDs button.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Album information is automatically retrieved if you are connected to the Internet, and have
registered with a music information provider like CDDB
®
.
To copy audio or data files from your computer
1. Make sure your player is connected to your computer as shown on page 6.
2. Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
Alternatively, click Start My Computer.
You will notice that your player is recognized as a Removable Disk.
3. Double-click the Zen Neeon Media Explorer icon.
4. Click the Browse Data button.
5. Locate your audio (MP3 or WMA files) or data files on your computer and copy them to
your player using the drag-and-drop method.
WMA files with Digital Rights Management (DRM) cannot be copied to your player using
Windows Explorer. You can only do so with applications that support this technology, such as
Zen Neeon Media Explorer and Creative MediaSource™.

Step 5: Disconnect player
When disconnecting your player from your computer, always use the Windows Eject or
Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Taskbar to safely disconnect your player. If your
player is not disconnected safely, the content may become corrupted and the player will not
function correctly. Follow these steps below to safely disconnect your player:
To safely disconnect your player in Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows Me
Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Taskbar, click Safely remove USB
Mass Storage Device, and disconnect your player when you are prompted to do so.
To safely disconnect your player in Windows 98 SE
1. Wait at least 10 seconds after all file transfers are completed.
2. On your desktop, right-click the My Computer icon and select Explore.
3. Right-click the Removable Disk icon, click the Eject option.
4. Disconnect your player when you are prompted to do so.

Playing a Track _____________________
1. Press the Play/Pause button until the OLED display lights up.
2. Press the Scroller, then scroll-select the Music option.
3. Press the Scroller, then scroll-select Browse.
4. Scroll-select a track.
Locking Your Player_________________
Locking disables all buttons on your player except the Scroller. Lock your player when you want
to prevent buttons from being accidently pressed.
To lock your player, move the switch toward the icon.
To unlock your player, move the switch away from the icon.
Using Playlists ______________________
You can instantly create a collection of audio tracks (a playlist) with Zen Neeon Media Explorer
and Creative MediaSource. For more information on creating playlists, see the online Help for
these applications.
1. In Music mode, press the Scroller.
2. Scroll-select Playlists.
3. Scroll-select a playlist.
4. Press the Play/Pause button to start playback.
To ensure proper playback of a playlist, add only tracks that are from the same Library folder
(for example, Root Library or Library A).

Managing Music and Data ____________
Zen Neeon Media Explorer and Creative MediaSource are included with your player. Install and
try out both applications to decide which one is more suitable for your needs.
Zen Neeon Media Explorer
Use Zen Neeon Media Explorer if:
you are new to digital music and want to transfer music from your CDs to your player
you prefer to manage your player in the familiar “Windows Explorer” environment.
To start Zen Neeon Media Explorer, double-click the Zen Neeon Media Explorer icon under My
Computer or on the desktop.
For more information about using Zen Neeon Media Explorer, refer to its online Help.
Creative MediaSource
Use Creative MediaSource, a full-featured media organizer/player, if:
you want to access additional features such as recording, automatic playlist generation and
audio format conversion
you want to manage a music library on your computer.
To start Creative MediaSource, double-click the Creative MediaSource icon on your desktop.
For more information about using Creative MediaSource, refer to its online Help.

chance of electric shock, short-circuiting, damage, fire, hearing impairment or

Do not dismantle or attempt to repair your player, battery or power adapter.
Refer all servicing to Creative or authorized repair agents.
Do not expose your player or battery to temperatures outside the range of 0°C to 45°C
(32°F to 113°F).
Do not pierce, crush or set fire to your player or battery.
Keep your player or battery away from strong magnetic objects.
Do not subject your player to excessive force or impact.
Do not expose your player or battery to water or moisture.
If your player is moisture-resistant (see product packaging for details), take care not to
immerse your player in water or expose it to rain.
Do not listen to audio at high volume for prolonged periods of time.
Do not attempt to remove the embedded battery. The player must be disposed of according
to local environmental regulations. To replace the battery, return your player to your regional

スクローラの使い方____________________
「スクロール選択」とは、次の操作を指します。
ご使用の準備__________________________
手順 1: ソフトウェアのセットアップ
1. コンピュータの電源をオンにします
Windows XP または Windows 2000 の場合、ソフトウェアをセットアップする前にWindows
管理者としてログインしてください。 詳細については、オペレーティングシステムのオンライン
ヘルプを参照してください。
2. インストールおよびアプリケーショ CD CD-ROM/DVD-ROM ドライブに挿入します。 ディ
スクは Windows の自動再生モードに対応しているため自動的に起動します。 自動的に起動しな
い場合は、CD-ROM ドライブの自動挿入機能を有効にする必要があります。次の手順に従って
ください。
i. [ マイ コンピュータ ] アイコンをダブルクリックします。
ii. [CD-ROM/DVD-ROM ドライブ ] アイコンを右クリックし、[ 自動再生 ] をクリックします。
