WARNING
Failure to read and follow the safety warnings and
instructions in this document and in the operator’s
manual could result in death, serious injury, and/or
property damage.
The warnings and instructions must be read,
understood, and followed when setting-up, operating,
servicing, transporting, or storing the unit.
Safety Alert Symbol and Signal Words
The safety alert symbol is used to identify safety
information about hazards that can result in personal
injury. A signal word (DANGER, WARNING, or
CAUTION) is used with the alert symbol to indicate the
likelihood and potential severity of injury. In addition,
a hazard symbol may be used to represent the type of
hazard.
DANGER indicates a hazard which, if not avoided,
will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING indicates a hazard which, if not
avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION indicates a hazard which, if not
avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE: indicates an action that could result in damage to the
product.
CAUTION Stored Energy Hazard
Keep hands away from tension springs when
removing or installing mower deck or transmission
belts.
WARNING Amputation or Laceration Hazard
• DO NOT make adjustments or repairs while the
engine is running or the blades are rotating.
• DO NOT place hands or feet near rotating parts or
under the mower deck.
• Keep clear of the discharge opening at all times.
• Mower blades are sharp – wear heavy gloves when
handling them.
• On multi-bladed mowers, rotating one blade could
cause the other(s) to also rotate.
WARNING Thrown Objects Hazard
• DO NOT operate the mower deck or the tractor
unless the discharge deector or the complete
grass catcher assembly (if equipped) is properly
installed.
• Frequently check the condition of the discharge
deector and grass catcher assembly (if equipped)
for damage or wear and repair/replace with
manufacturer’s recommended parts as necessary.
Deck Safety Decal
If any safety or instructional decals become worn or
damaged, and cannot be read, order replacement decals
from your dealer.
Safety Interlock System Tests
The tractor is equipped with a Safety Interlock System.
This system is present for your safety: do not attempt to
bypass or tamper with the switches and devices. Check
the system using the Safety Interlock System Tests listed
in the Operator’s Manual.
Anytime the deck is removed and reinstalled, you
must perform this test.

Preparation for Procedures

WARNING
Before beginning any
service work on the
tractor or mower deck:
• set the parking brake,
• turn off the PTO,
• stop the engine then
remove ignition key or
safety key, and
• disconnect the spark
plug wire(s).

Park tractor on a hard level surface.

Set the parking brake.
3
Stop the engine then remove ignition key.
4
Turn off the PTO.
5
Disco nnect the spark plug wires.
Deck Installation

Raise the mower deck to the TRANSPORT position.

Remove the foot panel.

Slide mower deck under left side of tractor.

Lower mower deck to the LOWEST level.

Attach the tractor lift brackets to the deck brackets.

Lift deck with boards or have a second person lift the deck to
align the hitch with the deck bracket secure with the pin and
clip.

Place the deck at the 2-1/2 inch height of cut.

Slide belt o pulley as shown.

Place belt on the PTO pulley.

42″ While pushing idler pulley away to remove belt
tension, slide belt on other pulley as shown.

48″ Pull and slide the belt over the pulley as shown.

52″ While pulling idler pulley lever to remove belt
tension, slide belt on other pulley as shown.
Deck Leveling

WARNING
Wear heavy gloves when
handling or working
around cutting blades.
Blades are extremely
sharp and can cause
severe injury.

Place the deck at the 4-1/2 inch height of cut.

Turn the wheels straight ahead.

Set the tires to the pressures shown.

SIDE-TO-SIDE

Arrange the mower blades so they are pointing side-to-side.

Measure the distance between the outside tips and the
ground.
If measurement A and B does not measure 4.5″ height of
cut as placed in Step 1, adjust mower to 4.5″ height by
adjusting nuts (C) on both sides.
The dierence between measurement (A and B) (should
be less than 1/8″ (3 mm).

IF AN ADJUSTMENT IS NEEDED
Tighten nuts (right or left side) as needed to adjust side-to-side
leveling.

FRONT-TO-BACK

42″ Arrange the right side blade so it is pointing front-
to-back.

48″ 52″ Arrange the right (D) and center (E) blades
so they point front-to-back.

Measure the distance between the outside tips as
shown and the ground.
The dierence between measurement (D and E)
(should be less than 1/8″ (3 mm).
Note: For Tractors with REAR SUSPENSION (F),
Measurement (D) (REAR) should be 3/16″ (5 mm)
HIGHER than (E).
IF AN ADJUSTMENT IS NEEDED
To RAISE - measurement (E):

Turn nut clockwise. Check measurement (Step 7 & 8).
To LOWER - measurement (E):
9
Turn nut counterclockwise. Check measurement
(Step 7 & 8).
Attach the spark plug wires when service is completed.
Belt Replacement

REMOVE 42″ DECK BELT
1
Place mower deck at the 2-1/2 inch height of cut.

Remove foot panel as shown.

While pushing idler pulley away, slide belt off other
pulley as shown.

Remove pulley covers.
5
Remove belt from PTO pulley.
REMOVE 48″ DECK BELT
1
Place mower deck at the 2-1/2 inch height of cut.

Remove foot panel as shown.
3
Pull and lift the belt over the pulley as shown.

Remove pulley covers.

Remove belt from PTO pulley.
REMOVE 52″ DECK BELT

Place mower deck at the 3 inch height of cut.

Remove foot panel as shown.

While moving idler arm, slide belt o other pulley as
shown.

Remove pulley covers.

Remove belt from PTO pulley.
Lubrication

Add grease to ttings where shown.
The pulleys are equipped with sealed bearings, which
does not require lubrication.
Blade Servicing

WARNING
Wear heavy gloves when handling or working around
cutting blades. Blades are extremely sharp and can
cause severe injury.
For your personal safety, if blade is damaged, it must
be replaced.
Note: Deck should be removed to service blades. See
deck removal.

To remove blade, use a block of wood to prevent
blade rotation while loosening capscrew.
2
If the blade is dull, sharpen at 22 to 28 degrees. DO
NOT sharpen beyond existing cutting edge.

After sharpening the blades, check to make sure they
are balanced. Place the center hole of the blade on a
nail lubricated with a drop of oil. A balanced blade will
remain level. If necessary, correct blade balance by
grinding the heavy end of the blade.

Reinstall the blade with the airlifts pointing up toward
the mower deck as shown.
WARNING
The blade mounting capscrew must be installed with a
spring washer (A).
Ensure capscrews are tightened to the torque value
shown.

Install the concave side of the washer toward the
blade.Install the bolt hand tight to hold the washer
and blade onto the shaft (make sure the blade is fully
seated onto the shaft).

Tighten the blade bolt to 50-60 lb-ft torque while
holding onto the pulley bolt with a wrench.
7
Tighten the pulley bolt to 50-60 lb-ft torque while
holding onto the blade bolt with a wrench.

いる場合）に破損またはスリ切れがないかどうかを頻
繁に確認し、必要に応じて修理／メーカー推奨部品
と交 換します。
デッキ 安 全ステッカー
安全または指示ステッカーが擦り切れた破損したために読
めない場合、交換ステッカーをディーラーに注文して下さ
い。
安 全インターロック・システム試 験
トラクターには安全インターロックシステムが装備されてい
ます。システムは安全のために装備されています。スイッチ
および機器をバイパスさせたり手を加えたりしないでくださ
い。システムのチェックには 操作 マニュアル にリストされてい
る安 全インターロックシステムテストを使 用します。
デッキを取り外して再 度取り付ける場 合、こ の テ ス ト を 行 わ な
ければなりません。

刃の手入れ

切断刃の取り扱い時または作業時は厚手の手袋を着用
します。 刃は非常に鋭利であり、深刻な怪我に繋がる可
能性があります。
安全のために、刃が破損している場合は交換しなけれ
ば なりませ ん 。
メモ：刃の修理を行う場合はデッキを取り外さなければなり
ません。 デッキの取り外しを参照してください。

刃を取り外す場 合、キャップスクリューを緩めるときに刃
が 回 転しないように木片を使 用します。
2
刃の状態が良好である場合、22～28度 に 研 ぎ ま す 。 既存
の刃先を越えて刃を研いではなりません。

刃を研いだ後、バランスが取れていることを確認しま す 。
潤滑油を塗布したネイルに刃の中央穴に位置付けます。
バランスの取れた刃は水平を保ちます。 必要であれば、
刃の先端を深く研いで刃のバランスを修正します。

図 に示すように、芝刈り機デッキの 方 向にエアリフトが 向
くように刃を再 度 取り付けます。
警告
刃 取り付 けキャップスクリュー はスプリングワッシャー ( A )
と共に取り付けなければなりません。
キャップスクリューが示されたトルク値まで締め付けられ
ていることを確 認します。

ボ ルトを 取り付 けて手で 締 め 、ワッシャー（ワッシャー の
凹面を刃に向けて）と刃をシャフトに固定します（刃がシ
ャフトに 完 全 に 収まって いることを 確 認しま す ）。

レンチを使ってプーリーボルトに固定した状態で刃ボル
トをトルク50-60 lb-ftで締めつけます。
7
レンチを使って刃ボルトに固定した状態でプーリーボル
トをトルク50-60 lb-ftで締めつけます。
