“SR-JV80 Collection Vol.4 World Collection” Wave
Expansion Board.
This expansion board contains all of the waveforms in the
SR-JV80-05 World, SR-JV80-14 World Collection “Asia,” and
SR-JV80-18 World Collection “LATIN,” along with specially
selected titles from waveforms contained in the 17 Country
Collection. This board contains new Patches and Rhythm
Sets which combine the waveforms in a manner that
highlights the benefits of SRX Effects and Matrix Control.
This board contains all kinds of unique string, wind, and
percussion instrument sounds, used in ethnic music from
Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South and North America,
Australia, and Europe.

Some of the waveforms used on this board are specially selected
from waveforms found on the CD-ROM “Whole Lotta Country,”
produced by SAMPLEHEADS, creator of many high-quality sound
libraries.
* The parameter settings for Patches and Rhythm Sets are optimized for
the Fantom series, XV series, MX-200, RD series with SRX slots,
MC-909, VR-760, and G-70 models, so there are some minor
differences in the sounds each instrument produces.
The included CD-ROM contains data reproducing the original sounds
of the SR-JV80-05, SR-JV80-14, and SR-JV80-18. (Compatible models:
Fantom (FA-76), XV-5080, XV-5050, XV-3080, XV-88, XV-2020)
This expansion board utilizes a new format. Check the
system program version for your instrument, and if a
relevant upgrade is available, upgrade your instrument
using the appropriate system update program on the
included CD-ROM. (See p. 23.)

* Avoid touching or scratching the shiny underside (encoded
surface) of the disc. Damaged or dirty CD-ROM discs may not
be read properly. Keep your discs clean using a commercially
available CD cleaner.
Handling the Board

To avoid the risk of damage to internal components that can
be caused by static electricity, please carefully observe the
following whenever you handle the board.

* Before you touch the board, always first grasp a metal object
(such as a water pipe), so you are sure that any static
electricity you might have been carrying has been discharged.

* When handling the board, grasp it only by its edges. Avoid
touching any of the electronic components or connectors.

* Save the bag in which the board was originally shipped, and put
the board back into it whenever you need to store or transport it.

INSTALLING THE WAVE EXPANSION BOARD
* Turn off your instrument.

Remove the cover located on the top (or rear) of your
instrument.

* When turning the unit upside-down, get a bunch of newspapers or
magazines, and place them under the four corners or at both ends to
prevent damage to the buttons and controls. Also, you should try to
orient the unit so no buttons or controls get damaged.

* When turning the unit upside-down, handle with care to avoid
dropping it, or allowing it to fall or tip over.

Insert the Wave Expansion Board connector into a connector
for an SRX Series slot, while simultaneously inserting the
board holders into the holes in the Wave Expansion Board.

* Do not touch any of the printed circuit pathways or connection
terminals.

* Never use excessive force when installing a circuit board. If it doesn’t
fit properly on the first attempt, remove the board and try again.

Use the supplied Installation Tool to turn the holders in the
LOCK direction, so the board will be fastened in place.
(To remove the Wave Expansion Board, turn the board holders
in the UNLOCK direction, and lift up the board.)

* When circuit board installation is complete, double-check your work.

Using the screws removed in Step 1, refasten the cover in its
original position.
5.
Check if the Wave Expansion Board is correctly installed.
* If the “EXP” display cannot be selected (doesn’t appear) in the
Waveform Selection Screen (refer to the owner’s manual of the
instrument you use), remove the Wave Expansion Board and install it
properly.

#: Patches using Phrase Loop Waveforms. The numbers included in the
Patch name represent the recommended tempo (B.P.M.).
When playing patches on the expansion board, we recommend that
you set all the EFFECTS ON/OFF settings on the Fantom series/XV
series to “ON.” If such settings are set to “OFF,” you may not obtain
the intended sound.
* Note that the Release Time has been set to a fairly long value for some
of the patches. As a result, if your sound generator has been set so
“Patch Remain” is “ON,” the release portion of a previously sounding
patch may continue to be heard even after switching to a new patch.
* Some of the patches use waveforms of the SR-JV80 series. For this
reason, the upper end of the keyboard may not sound because of key
range restrictions.
* Refer to the owner’s manual for your instrument for specific
instructions on how to play Patches on the expansion board.
* On the Fantom series/XV series/MX-200, you can not select only the
patches which are designed to be used with the RD series (with SRX
slots)/MC-909/VR-760/G-70.

* With some tones, tempos may change suddenly or noise may be
produced. This occurs when the tempo is being synchronized, for
example to multi-effects or chorus delay times. If the noise becomes
noticeable, change the delay time value settings to something other than
times corresponding to beats.
* Some of the patches use waveforms of the SR-JV80 series. For this
reason, the upper end of the keyboard may not sound because of key
range restrictions.
* On the RD series (with SRX slots)/MC-909/VR-760/G-70, you can
not select only the patches which are designed to be used with the
Fantom series/XV series/MX-200.

**: These are the phrase loop waveforms. The numbers included in the wave
name represent the recommended tempo (B.P.M.). And these waveforms
can be synchronized to a device such as a sequencer.
#: This waveform was selected from the CD-ROM “Whole Lotta Country”
from Sampleheads.
When you create a Patch using the waveforms stored in the
Expansion Board, observe the following points:
* If you make a Patch with a single voice and then later play it in a
chord, the sound may be distorted with certain settings for the Effects
and TVA. If this happens, adjust the level of the Effects and TVA.
* This product uses waveforms of the SR-JV80 series. For this reason,
the upper end of the keyboard may not sound because of key range
restrictions.

About the New Format
Expansion boards SRX-01-04 could only hold a maximum of
128 Patches. In order to make it possible to provide an even
greater variety of sounds, a new format (implemented
originally on the SRX-05) is now being employed. This new
format is capable of handling more than 128 Patches.
If you are using one of the five models listed below, and are
still using an older version of the system, you may need to
upgrade its system to enable it to support the new SRX
format. Check the system program version of your
instrument; if your current version is the same as, or older
than the corresponding one listed below, use the system
update program on the included CD-ROM to upgrade to the
latest version before using the SRX-09.
• Fantom (FA-76): Update required for versions up to Ver. 1.12
• XV-5080: Update required for versions up to Ver. 1.24
• XV-3080: Update required for versions up to Ver. 1.08
• XV-88: Update required for versions up to Ver. 1.07
• RD-700: Update required for versions up to Ver. 1.04
For instructions on checking the system program version for
each instrument, and upgrading the software, refer to the
html files for the relevant instrument included on the CD-
ROM.
About the Included CD-ROM
The included CD-ROM features:
• System update programs compatible with new-format
SRX expansion boards (for Fantom (FA-76), XV-5080,
XV-3080, XV-88, and RD-700)
• Data Reproducing the SR-JV’s Original Patches and
Rhythm Sets (Compatible models: Fantom (FA-76),
XV-5080, XV-5050, XV-3080, XV-88, XV-2020)

* Take proper care of the included CD-ROM; it will not be
reissued.
* The system programs on the included CD-ROM are the latest
versions, as of September, 2002. For information regarding
newer versions than those on this disk, you should contact the
nearest Roland Service Center.
