Attaching the conversion lens
1 Turn o the camera.
2 Remove the front ring from the camera as described on
page 129 of the camera manual.
3 Remove the lens caps on the front and rear of the
conversion lens.
4 Attach the conversion lens to the camera (Figure1).
5 Mount the lens hood on the conversion lens with the
index (“A” in Figure 1) uppermost.
When using the conversion lens, select ON for Y WIDE
CONVERSION LENS in the camera shooting menu.
Note
Be careful not to drop the conversion lens or camera when
attaching/removing the conversion lens.
Removing the conversion lens
1 Turn o the camera.
2 Remove the conversion lens from the camera.
When the conversion lens is not in use, select OFF for
Y WIDE CONVERSION LENS in the camera shooting
menu.
Notes on use
• Use a blower to remove dust and lint from the lens
surfaces. To remove smudges and ngerprints, apply a
small amount of ethanol or lens cleaner to a soft, clean
cotton cloth or lens-cleaning tissue and clean from the
center outwards using a circular motion, taking care not to
leave smears or touch the glass with your ngers.
• If the lens will not be used for an extended period, store
it in a cool, dry location to prevent mold and rust. Do not
store in direct sunlight or with naphtha or camphor moth
balls.
• Leaving the lens in extremely hot locations could cause
damage or warping.
• Do not subject to strong physical shocks.
• Always place the lens caps on the front and rear of the
conversion lens when storing.
• After attaching the conversion lens, do not carry the
camera by holding the conversion lens.
• Touching the lens surface when attaching the lens hood
may adversely a ect image quality.
• The lens hood may appear in photographs if not mounted
with the index (“A” in Figure 1) uppermost.
• The lens hood is made of rubber and may not regain its
original shape if deformed for prolonged periods. Observe
caution when storing the hood.
• Shadows may appear in photos taken with the camera’s
built-in ash. We recommend using an optional external
ash unit designated for use with your camera.

Reduces the focal length of the X70 (by 0.75×) for a wider angle
without a ecting the lens f-number (lens speed).

• Update the camera rmware to the latest version.
• This wide conversion lens is structurally incompatible with
X100-series cameras.
