1. Preparation
Congratulations on your purchase of the Sophos Firewall Manager (SFM) device.
This Quick Start Guide describes in short steps how to assemble the SFM device
and explains how to open the web-based Admin Console on the device from your
administration client PC. The Admin Console allows you to configure every aspect of
the security system.
What does the box include
Registration and License Activation
Browse to the MySophos portal at www.sophos.com/mysophos, create an account
and register your SFM device.. You can then apply additional support subscriptions
which you have purchased for your device.

2. Mount and connect the device
Connect the SFM device to the network and administration PC.
1. Connect your administration PC to Ethernet Port 1 of the SFM device
by using the RJ45 Ethernet cable supplied with your device.
2. Connect Port 2 of the SFM device via a hub or switch to your internal network
(LAN) from where all of your firewall devices are accessible to the SFM.
The SFM devices are shipped with the following default settings:

Mount the device to the rack
Please follow the rack mounting instructions as described in the SFM Operating
Instructions.*

3. Power it on
Connect the device to the power socket and turn it on
Connect the device to the power socket using the power cable(s) from the scope of
supply. Turn the SFM device on. The power switch is on the back side of the housing
next to the power supply plug.
4. Configure the device
Use your browser to make the initial connection to the Admin Console GUI
You will need to configure your administration PC with the necessary LAN properties
as shown on the left to access the Admin Console. The location of the menu for these
settings depends on the operating system of your client
Example: With Windows 7, the menu can be found under Start >> Control Panel >>
Network and Sharing Center
Start the browser and enter the management IP address of the SFM device:
http://172.16.16.16
Logon to the SFM Admin Console using default username ‘admin’ and password ‘admin’.
For initial configuration of the SFM device, you should first change the interface(s) IP
address(es), default gateway, DNS settings and Date/Time Zone to match your local
network settings.

2. Gerät montieren und verbinden
Verbinden Sie Ihr SFM-Gerät mit Ihrem Netzwerk und dem
Administrations-PC.
1. Verbinden Sie Ihren Administrations-PC mit dem Ethernet-Port 1 des SFM-
Geräts. Verwenden Sie hierzu das mitgelieferte RJ45-Ethernet-Kabel.
2. Verbinden Sie Port 2 Ihres SFM-Geräts über einen Hub oder
Switch mit Ihrem internen Netzwerk (LAN), in welchem
das SFM Zugriff auf alle Ihre Firewall-Geräte hat.
Für die SFM-Geräte sind werkseitig folgende Standardeinstellungen
festgelegt:

3. Gerät einschalten
Gerät an eine Netzsteckdose anschließen und einschalten
Schließen Sie das Gerät mit dem/den beiliegenden Netzkabel/n an eine Netzsteckdose
an. Schalten Sie das SFM-Gerät ein. Der Netzschalter befindet sich auf der Rückseite
des Gehäuses neben dem Netzanschluss.
4. Gerät konfigurieren
Verwenden Sie Ihren Browser, um die Erstverbindung zur
Bedienoberfläche der Admin Console herzustellen
Für den Zugang zur Admin Console müssen Sie Ihren Administrations-PC mit den
erforderlichen LAN-Eigenschaften (siehe links) konfigurieren. Wo sich das Menü für
diese Einstellungen befindet, hängt vom Betriebssystem Ihres Client ab
Beispiel: Bei Windows 7 befindet sich das Menü unter Start >> Systemsteuerung >>
Netzwerk- und Freigabecenter.
Starten Sie den Browser und geben Sie die IP-Adresse der Verwaltung des SFM-
Geräts ein: http://172.16.16.16
Melden Sie sich bei der SFM Admin Console mit dem Standardbenutzernamen
„admin“ und dem Kennwort „admin“ an.
Bei der Erstkonfiguration Ihres SFM-Geräts sollten Sie zunächst die IP-Adresse(n)
der Schnittstelle(n), das Standard-Gateway, die DNS-Einstellungen und die Datums-/
Zeitzone entsprechend Ihren lokalen Netzwerkeinstellungen ändern.

2. デバイスの取り付けおよび接続
SFM デバイスをネットワークおよび管理 PC に接続します。

3. 電源を入れる
デバイスを電源ソケットに接続してスイッチを入れる
付属の電源ケーブルを使用してデバイスを電源ソケットに接続します。SFM デバイスの電源を
オンにします。電源スイッチはデバイス背面、電源接続口の横にあります。
4. デバイスを設定する
ブラウザを使用して管理コンソール GUI への初期接続を行う
管理コンソールにアクセスするには、管理 PC で左記に示したような必要な LAN プロパティを
設定する必要があります。これらの設定のメニューの場所は、クライアントの OS によって異なり
ます。
例: Windows 7 の場合、メニューは「スタート」-「コントロール パネル」-「ネットワークと共有セ
ンター」の下にあります。
ブラウザを起動し、SFM デバイスの管理 IP アドレス: http://172.16.16.16 を入力します。
デフォルトのユーザー名 ‘admin’ とパスワード ‘admin’ を使用して SFM 管理コンソールにロ
グオンします。
SFM デバイスの初期設定の際には、お客様のローカルネットワークの設定に一致するように、イ
ンターフェース IP アドレス、デフォルトゲートウェイ、DNS 設定、日付 / 時刻のゾーンを最初に
変更する必要があります。
