3. Hardware Requirements and Precautions
1. Computers or servers must be with SATA I, SATA II, or SATA III interface.
2. Hard drive must be with SATA I, SATA II, or SATA III interface.
3. The independent drive at the top cannot be set into RAID mode with primary or secondary drive.
It is an independent drive.
4. You are strongly advised to set the storage mode before using your iR2823/iR2824. (The default
setting is the RAID 1.)
5. Once the drive mode conguration has been completed, re-conguration using the same hard
drives to set the drive mode will result in complete data loss. If you must change the drive mode,
make sure to backup all data prior to the mode change.
6. A reboot is required after adding or changing RAID mode to ensure that the update is completed
to the new RAID mode.
7. iR2823 / iR2824 product allows user to simultaneously use the two dierent hard drives from two
dierent manufactures. However, if the user expects a better efficiency, we strongly recommend
the user to use the two hard drives from the same manufacturer.
8. Please make sure that the two hard drives are free from bad blocks or defects prior to installation
in order to avoid system crashes or data loss.
9. The actual storage capacity of iR2823 / iR2824 recognized by the system may dier from the total
capacity stated on the hard drives combined once the drives have been formatted.
10. It is highly recommended for user to back up important data contained within the iR2823 / iR2824
unit on a regular basis or whenever the user feels necessary to a remote or a separate storage
device. RAIDON will not be responsible for any lost of data caused during the use of the unit or
the recovery of the data lost.
4. Hardware Installation Procedure
Please follow the instructions below to complete the hardware installation.
1.For the 3.5" HDD tray, please use the key included in the
accessory kit to unlock the HDD tray key lock, and then press
the HDD tray key lock. The removable drive tray will pop open
and extract the removable drive tray.

2. For 3.5" HDD/SSD, a please secure it by use six
the larger screws included in the accessory kit.
For 2.5" HDD/SSD, please secure it by use four
the smaller screws included in the accessory kit.
3. For the 2.5" HDD tray, a please use the key
included in the accessory kit to unlock the 2.5"
HDD tray key lock and push the HDD eject
button to the right, the 2.5" HDD tray handle will
pop up to remove the tray.
b Use the ejector pin included in the accessory
kit to eject the HDD enclosure handle, and then
pull tray handle to remove it.
4. Install the 2.5-inch hard disk and secure it with
the small screws included in the 4 parts package.
