Oil Recommendations Figure
We recommend the use of Victa Warranty Certified oils
for best performance. Other high-quality detergent oils
are acceptable if classified for service CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4,
CH-4 or higher. DO NOT use special additives.
Below 14°F (-10°C) the use of 15W-40 will result in
hard starting.
Above 80°F (27°C) the use of 10W-30 may cause
increased oil consumption. Check oil level more frequently.
Outdoor temperatures determine the proper oil
viscosity for the engine. Use the chart to select the best
viscosity for the outdoor temperature range expected.
Checking Oil Level Figure 3
Oil level should be checked prior to each use or at least
every 8 hours of operation. Keep oil level maintained.

Operation
Water Pump Location Figure
For best pump performance, locate the pump on a
flat, level surface as close as possible to the water to
be pumped. Secure water pump to avoid tipover. Use
hoses that are no longer than necessary.
WARNING Exhaust heat/gases could ignite
combustibles, structures or damage fuel tank
causing a fire, resulting in death or serious
injury.
Keep at least 1.5 m (5 ft) of clearance on all sides
of water pump including overhead.
What is “Head”? Figure
Head refers to the height of a column of water that can
be delivered by the discharge of the pump.
Suction Head (A) is the vertical distance between the
center of the pump and the surface of the liquid on the
suction side of the pump. May also be referred to as
“suction lift”. The atmospheric pressure of 1 bar (14.5
psi) at sea level limits suction head lift to less than
approximately 8m (26 ft) for any pump.
Discharge Head (B) is the vertical distance between
the pump’s discharge port and the point of discharge,
which is the liquid surface if the hose is submerged or
pumping into the bottom of a tank.
As water pumping height increases, pump output
decreases. The length, type, and size of the suction
and discharge hoses can also significantly affect pump
output.
It is important for the suction operation to be the
shorter part of the total pumping action. This will
decrease the priming time and improve pump
performance by increasing the discharge head.
See Specifications for maximum head values.

NOTICE Improper treatment of water pump can
damage it and shorten its life.
Be sure pump chamber is filled with water before
starting the engine. Never run pump without priming.
Locate Strainer Basket Into Water Source
Figure
Place strainer basket into water to be pumped. Basket
must be fully immersed in water. To reduce sand or silt
suction, place basket into bucket or on top of coarse
rocks.
NOTICE Improper treatment of water pump can
damage it and shorten its life.
NEVER operate pump without strainer basket
connected to end of suction hose.
Keep strainer out of sand or silt - place in bucket or
on stones.
DO NOT let pump run dry or damage to seals may
result. Never run pump without priming.
DO NOT pump salt water.
13 Starting the Water Pump Figure
Use the following start instructions:
1. Make sure unit is on a flat, level surface.
2. Move fuel shutoff (1, B) to ON (I) position.
1. Adjust throttel control (1, D) to position of
“START”, and tighten it.
2. Press down pressure release valve (1, C), and
pull recoil starter (1, N).
3. Pull recoil starter until the resistance is felt.
4. Put the pressure release valve to the position
where there's no compression. After the start of
diesel engine, pressure release valve will restore
to its previous position automatically.
5. Hold recoil starter handle and pull it until
resistance is felt and then pull the rope rapidly.
6. If the engine is not started, start from action 3 and
repeat it again. After start, put recoil starter back
lightly, and do not let it spring back suddenly.
WARNING Exhaust heat/gases could ignite
combustibles, structures or
damage fuel tank causing a fire,
resulting in death or serious injury.
Contact with muffler area could
cause burns resulting in serious injury.
Do not touch hot parts and AVOID hot exhaust gases.
Allow equipment to cool before touching.
Keep at least 1.5 m (5 feet) of clearance on all sides
of water pump including overhead.
14
WARNING Starter cord kickback (rapid retraction)
will pull hand and arm toward engine faster
than you can let go which could cause broken
bones, fractures, bruises, or sprains resulting
in serious injury.
When starting engine, pull cord slowly until resistance
is felt and then pull rapidly to avoid kickback.
Keep hands and body clear from discharge of pump.
Secure discharge hose to avoid whipping.

Stop the Water Pump Figure
1. Before the engine stops, move the engine throttle
control (1, D) to its lowest rotation speed position,
and then run the engine without load for 3
minutes.
2. Adjust throttle control to “STOP” position.
3. Move fuel shutoff (1, B) to OFF (0) position.
When engine stops, reduce its load gradually, do
not stop engine suddenly, otherwise it will cause
temperature to rise abnormally.
Notice
Theoretically, pressure and water pump suction
will decrease proportionally to the increase of
altitude. Decrease value can be estimated through
the decrease of local atmospheric pressure (1
atmospheric pressure equals about 10 meters water
column).
Straight and short pipe can reduce unnecessary
resistance loss. Pipe must reasonably fixed so as
to avoid vibration and damage to the water pump.
Before operation, operator must check and see if the
hoop which connects water pump and pipe is loosen.
Specially pay attention to water inlet pipe and see if it
leaks.
Water inlet filter and water surface, river and
riverbank must keep certain distance, so as to avoid
air gets into it. The distance between filter and water
surface should not be less than 0.3m, so as to
avoid small stone or dust to get into it. The distance
between filter and river bank and river surface should
not be less than 1.2m.
When using water pump in winter, in order to avoid
water pump to get damaged due to freeze. When
machine stops running, unscrew water drainage plug
at the pump bottom, drain all water inside the pump,
so as to prevent from freeze to damage water pump.

Storage
WARNING Fuel and its vapors are extremely
flammable and explosive which
could cause burns, fire or explosion
resulting in death or serious injury.
WHEN STORING FUEL OR EQUIPMENT WITH
FUEL IN TANK
Store away from furnaces, stoves, water heaters,
clothes dryers, or other appliances that have pilot
light or other ignition source because they can
ignite fuel vapors.
WHEN DRAINING FUEL
Turn water pump OFF and let it cool at least 2
minutes before removing fuel cap. Loosen cap
slowly to relieve pressure in tank.
Drain fuel tank outdoors.
Keep fuel away from sparks, open flames, pilot
lights, heat, and other ignition sources.
DO NOT light a cigarette or smoke.
Protect Fuel System
Fuel can become stale when stored over 30 days.
Stale fuel causes acid and gum deposits to form in the
fuel system. If diesel fuel in the engine has not been
treated with a fuel stabilizer, it must be drained into an
approved container. Run the engine until it stops from
lack of fuel. Pull the starter cord handle slowly until
resistance is felt. At this stage, the intake and exhaust
valves are closed to help prevent the engine from rust.
Engine Oil
While the engine is still warm, change the engine oil.
NOTICE: Store the engine level (normal operating
position). If the engine is tipped for storage, the fuel
tank must be empty. If the fuel tank is not empty and
if the engine is tipped in any other direction, it may be
difficult to start due to oil or diesel fuel contaminating
the air filter.
Other Storage Tips
1. DO NOT store fuel from one season to another
unless it has been treated as described in Protect
Fuel System.
2. Store water pump in clean, dry area and cover
with a suitable protective cover that does not
retain moisture.
WARNING Storage covers could cause a fire
resulting in death or serious injury.
DO NOT place a storage cover over a hot water pump.
Let equipment cool for a sufficient time before
placing the cover on the equipment.

Pengoperasian
Lokasi Pompa Air Gambar
Untuk performa pompa terbaik, letakkan pompa pada
permukaan yang datar dan rata sedekat mungkin
dengan air yang akan dipompa. Kencangkan pompa
air agar tidak terguling. Gunakan selang sepanjang
yang dibutuhkan.
PERINGATAN Panas/gas buang dapat memicu
zat yang mudah terbakar bakar, struktur atau
merusak tangki bahan bakar yang menyebabkan
kebakaran, yang mengakibatkan kematian atau
cedera serius.
Berikan jarak minimum 1,5 m dari semua sisi pompa air,
termasuk bagian atasnya.
Apa itu “Head”? Gambar
pompa. Juga disebut sebagai “daya angkat penyedotan”.
Tekanan atmosfer sebesar 1 bar (14,5 psi) pada
permukaan laut membatasi daya angkat head penyedot
Jika tinggi pemompaan air meningkat, keluaran pompa
akan menurun. Panjang, jenis, dan ukuran selang
penyedot dan pembuangan juga dapat mempengaruhi
keluaran pompa.
Operasi penyedotan harus lebih pendek dari kegiatan
pemompaan total. Ini akan menurunkan waktu
pancingan dan meningkatkan performa pompa dengan
meningkatkan head pembuangan.
Baca Spesifikasi untuk nilai head maksimum.

Menghentikan Pompa Air Gambar
1. Sebelum mesin berhenti, pindahkan pengatur
akselerasi mesin (1, D) ke posisi kecepatan
putaran terendahnya, lalu jalankan mesin tanpa
beban selama 3 menit.
2. Atur pengatur akselerasi ke posisi “BERHENTI”.
3. Pindahkan alat penyetop bahan bakar (1, B) ke
posisi MATI (0).
normal.
Pemberitahuan
Secara teoritis, tekanan dan hisapan pompa air
akan menurun secara proporsional dengan kenaikan
ketinggian. Nilai penurunan dapat diperkirakan
melalui penurunan tekanan atmosfer lokal (1 tekanan
atmosfer sama dengan sekitar 10 meter kolom air).
Pipa yang lurus dan pendek dapat mengurangi
hilangnya resistensi yang tidak perlu. Pipa harus
diperbaiki dengan wajar untuk menghindari
getaran dan kerusakan pada pompa air. Sebelum
air membeku hingga rusak.

PEMBERITAHUAN: Simpan level mesin (posisi
pengoperasian normal).
kelembapan.
PERINGATAN Penutup penyimpanan dapat
menyebabkan kebakaran yang mengakibatkan
kematian atau cedera serius.
JANGAN memasang penutup penyimpanan di atas
pompa air yang panas.
Dinginkan dalam waktu yang cukup sebelum meletakkan
penutup pada perangkat.
